Re: Toaster Ohm Readings
I have a March '66 360/12 with a fubar'd neck joint.
Sorry I can't comment on the ohm thing.

Nah, just don't leave it in a hot car etc.
It's no weaker than pretty much any vintage Ric. The short pole/two piece isn't the full solution.
I actually prefer the three piece tops anyways..

Re: Toaster Ohm Readings
Fixed it. 8K now.
Open luckily right at the post. That is what I get for cleaning to thoroughly.
Is there forum for parts wanted or it this it?
I need 1 screw for the tuning peg. I am after an exact replacment.
Also need the flat metal metal bottom piece for a modern 12 saddle bridge not the bridge itself (the part that goes under the bridge and screws to the guitar). I imagine the 6 saddle underpiece is the same size.
I also need 2 of the long black screws for a vintage bridge. The ones with the rubber gromet.
And lastly I have 4 knobs with a square pointer and a dot on the bottom and one with a dot pointer and a dot on bottom. Which ones are "Right" for my guitar. I am hoping the ones with the square were the original. Never really new there was a difference.
See Photo.

Re: Toaster Ohm Readings
Wow - if you needed any more parts, you'd have a whole guitar!
Seriously - Glad you got it fixed, and that it wasn't more troublesome than it was. As for parts, place a post in Rickenbackers Wanted in the Forum marketplace.

What is a 3 piece top? Can someone explain this? Or a photo?

A three piece topis literally the top side of the guitar made with three pieces of wood instead of two.
The easiest way to see is by looking for the vertical joints that run parallel to the strings, most easily visible between the bridge and tailpiece. Later models will have a single joint line because it is only two pieces of maple.
I can post some better pics tomorrow.
PS-- your guitar has a three piece top. See how the 3" center "strip" has a completely different grain than the pieces on either side? Your picture of the pickup routes is an excellent example
Re: Toaster Ohm Readings
3-piece tops were used in hollow-body Rickenbackers until about mid-1966. In many cases the center strip of wood in the top will show as a lighter or daker shade going right through the center of the bridge and the pickups.... 2-piece 1967 on the left, 3-piece 1964 on the right....bubbasweet wrote:What is a 3 piece top? Re: Toaster Ohm Readings
Great picture, John.
Also a great demonstration between the difference in '67 and '64 Fireglo shades.
That's one of the few 60's lefties I've ever seen too.

And the 60's basses too...collin wrote:Short pole toasters are in demand because people missing pickups don't want to route their non-long-pole guitar.
That is a great photo John. One of the best I've seen showing the lighter FG from @ late 66, in contrast to that deep earlier hue.
Re: Toaster Ohm Readings
Thanks guys...the '64's finish is one of the funkiest I've seen---in the flesh it almost has a reddish-brown finish, kinda Autumnglo-y....wints wrote:And the 60's basses too...collin wrote:Short pole toasters are in demand because people missing pickups don't want to route their non-long-pole guitar.

The '64 also has two long-pole toasters.....

I think mine is a 3 Piece? I can see that center piece of wood that you speak of..
