Gonna get the Mono box set. I have no idea when. At some point, anyway.

I was just given both sets. I put Please Please Me on in the car and it was a revelation. The sound was so much richer. It was like the first time listening to the Stones' Aftermath after the remasters on their material, only better because it was the Beatles. Can't wait to get further into the material.

Did indeed purchase the stereo box set this morning at 6 minutes after 10 am...two minutes later, where I was, (Yonge & Bloor in Toronto) the entire allotment was gone. No chance at the mono box, but that can be the Holy Grail for me, as I don't have the cash right now anyhow.

Also picked up a copy of the remastered Rubber Soul for my five-year-old son, who loves the Beatles.

So far so good. No, I guess I don't really need the remasters, but then again, I don't really need cable, or a third Rickenbacker, or these extra twenty pounds I carry around now.

Today, at a local Wal-Mart, I found "Hard Day's Night" and "For Sale" and bought them both. As far as I'm concerned, those two and "With the Beatles" are all I *really* need. Anything else is an added bonus.

Mono (mine) and stereo (younger son's (21)) boxes are In The House. Listening to the mono white album as I type; these things look and sound Great!
We're both multi-instrumentalists but are bass players at heart. His first comment, listening to the Please Please Me CD: The bass is nice and loud!

I don't know, I still have to decide what to do...I really have to give it a listen before

the high prices of CDs here in Italy (260 euros the stereo and 305 euros for the mono) does not encourage me much to buy the same music for the 3rd or 4th time again unless the quality improvements are so evident and relevant....

I didn't already have Beatles For Sale, so I bought it tonight. It does sound very good, but I never had the older version for a comparison.

I HAD no plans to buy the remasters, but as a longtime fan, i listened to Rubber Soul Remastered last night.
All i can say is WOW!. It's like listening to an album that was made yesterday, not 40 years ago.
I swear the vocals are different, but that's all due to the remastering, it is so crystal clear!
My wife now knows what to buy me for my next few birthdays and Christmas's.
I thought it'd be a case of..."heard it all before!".... i was so wrong!!

i would love to hear the improvement in the overall sound quality, but would probably only opt for a few (rubber soul, revolver, abbey road) being at the top of my list....

I should have the first three albums later today. I'll give them a listen and report back.

I definitely want the mono set... But i can't see a need to rush out to buy once again the same music that I have owned since 1980, even if it will be in better quality...

I have a German LP pressing of WITH THE BEATLES from 1964, that is unique in that it has all of the guitars, drums and bass hard panned to the left, while all of the vocals are hard panned to the right. Very useful if you want authentic (although mono) Beatles Kareoke versions, or just want to hear the vocals isolated so that you can work out the harmonies...

Now THAT I would pay to have on CD as my 40 year old LP is more then a little scratchy...

Back in my vinyl days I would always buy both the stereo and mono versions of the albums... SGT PEPPERS and WHITE ALBUM esp are full of very different mixes...
