This article has many salient points regarding sound and speaker placement, etc. that is insightful in many ways. Not to mention, pretty funny at times!

I've had McIntosh stuff since about 1970. I remember comparing their speaker line to JBL's S8 and Paragon. They were very precise in their day but tremendously inefficient. I along with most others chose the JBL's. Today I'm using B&W and Velodyne. The technology has advanced at nearly the same rate as other electronic technologies. Of course, this stuff is mostly good for playing back music, not playing it. ...I don't play bass, but have often wondered what a Velodyne sub would sound like as an add on with a five string.

I thought the article was very interesting from a historical perspective, although there is lots of still valid information to be gleaned from it. I have Magnepan MG _c speakers driven with Aragon electronics and a Definitive Technologies Supercube II subwoofer, good down to 14Hz. 8)
