DJ,

Sounds like you got a pretty good deal, too. Glad to be of some help. I'm very new to the board and have been asking the vets for advice. They are a great bunch and very patient. I've got a lot to learn. When is your new Rick supposed to arrive?

This was my first time dealing with MF. Here's another little thing I found out today that might save you some trouble..... MF will send the guitar UPS and does NOT require a signature. Have someone at home the day of delivery. UPS may just prop the box up next to your door. At least that's the impression I got from speaking with them (MF). I kept checking the tracking (link is in the order confirmation email). It was accurate regarding the day of delivery.

Here in SoCal, that might mean it sits out in 100+ degrees all day and in this economy, it also might just 'walk away', if no one is home. Fortunately, my dog heard the driver and started barking, so my wife opened the door. The driver just handed her the box and walked back to his truck. She didn't have to sign for it.

My overall experience with MF has been very good, so far.

Hi Tom,
Musician's Friend is the best! I've bought a lot of stuff from them, this is the 5th Ric. They even 2 day aired me a guitar n/c.
I've bought a couple of pre-owned 52 Tele RI's recently with Sam Ash 20% off coupons. Most of my local Mom and Pops deserve to go out of business with no selection, high prices and poor service (in good times and in bad). Like RIC, I don't do much business with GC.

UPS does leave the stuff with no signature, I left a note for them to leave my packages in an unlocked wagon on a rainy day, they didn't see the note, drove over the lawn and left it in the rain. Everything was fine except for a few soggy boxes. Ric packs guitars very well and covers the water resistance case with a plastic bag. I don't worry about temp either, I've had stuff shipped from below zero to 100 degrees and it's all been fine. Theft is unlikely because interstate theft is a serious crime. It would take the very dumbest thief to try it, even Tony Soprano was angry when Christopher grabbed a box of watches off the UPS truck. (He got over it when Christopher gave him one).

The recession has been a great time to stock up on instruments.
Thanks again for the secret code word!!!

I came home to So Cal from a retailer's convention in Tennessee to find my brand new Gretsch Silver Jet and Roland Keyboard in boxes on the back porch...wasn't sure how long they'd been there-a couple of days maybe?? Man, I'm glad I live in a nice neghborhood, and boy was I fortunate!
