Bassic Colors No. 10 – Maxwell's Silver Hammer
According the Rickenbacker Page/Rittor color chart, Silver was available from 1980 to '84. It would come standard with BT (black trim, including binding, plastic, and blackened hardware), but I have seen a photo somewhere (maybe eBay?) of a Silver bass with white/chrome trim. That would have been the "reverse trim" option at extra cost back then. Seems to me that Jeff Rath had a 2030 in Silver, too.
The metallic silver paint sometimes (or maybe often) turned greenish due to yellowing clear coat.
For some reason, I have not collected portrait-quality photos of a Rickenbacker bass in Silver. Don't let that stop you, folks. Let's discuss and post photos of your Rickenbacker bass in shiny Silver!

Silver is another one the the RIC colors that looks flat in photos.

Mike Parks has this Silver/WT/Chrome on his Collectables page:

He also has a 1989 example with BT on one of the Sold pages:

I LOVE me some silver!
Yes, Paul, Jeff did have a 2030 in Silver, I wanted to buy it from him quite badly.
Everytime one comes up, I can't pull the trigger on it, though.
Here is a nice one at Olivia's with nice pictures...

AND a 360 in silver!

Too bad Olivia's shots didn't correct for tungsten light; they make it look like Desert Gold. Notice in the "sold" Rickenbackers at the Rick Page, that the example is from '89 and they mention in the writeup that Rittor said '80-'84. This is why we can use the Rittor chart only as a guideline, not as gospel. I hope to have a color chart in my book that is more accurate.

I think you are right, but as you can see in this picture there's quite a lot of yellowing going also.bassduke49 wrote:Too bad Olivia's shots didn't correct for tungsten light; they make it look like Desert Gold.

IMO, that yelowing is "environmental" discoloring, i.e. from light or smoke. My 1975 4001S WHT WT (see the white thread) has a uniform color change everywhere, including under the pickguard:berth wrote:I think you are right, but as you can see in this picture there's quite a lot of yellowing going also.bassduke49 wrote:Too bad Olivia's shots didn't correct for tungsten light; they make it look like Desert Gold.

Very cool color. I almost bought that one with white/chrome trim and two piece mirror PG before it ended up at Music Connection.

Re: Bassic Colors No. 10 – Maxwell's Silver Hammer
I remember in 85 I saw a Silver 4003 in a pawn shop that had yellowed so much that I thought it was painted green. Bearing in mind production of this bass couldn't have been more than five years old. Must've been owned by a heavy smoker.
