Nice work Wes. I was gonna say I dig the lo-fi feel of it but that ancient humour would be lost on some. Oh I guess I did say it. Just kidding Wes.

Why Wes? That bass is a beauty. Are you buying something else?

I'm looking to pick up one of these, and one lens for it costs as much as this bass.
It sort of pertains to what I'm planning on doing with my life, so it seems like the right decision.

You'll probably find that as you get older, you'll like more music that you didn't like before. Happens with other stuff too, like food. Though, some things go the opposite way.

Uh ... why would you want a rangefinder film camera in today's digital world ?

Because I shoot with a digital SLR everyday. A big SLR that makes shutter flaps and requires a larger lens is pretty un-discreet for street photography. RFs are smaller, quieter, lighter, easier to focus quickly. Digital has it's place, but for artful photography I like doing everything manual and getting back to basics.

I take it you are looking for a used one? Let me know what lens you are interested in, A friend of mine has lots of Leica gear that is barely used!

Cool! I'm looking for an M6 classic in chrome and a 35mm Summicron f/2 lens, doesn't have to be the newer aspherical version. Let me know. Thanks, Jeff.

Back when I took a lot of pictures, I found I was a lot more all-around creative using b&w film and a manual camera. With color I tended to ease off because of the interplay of the colors in the shot. An automatic takes you toward mindless point-and-shoot.

Isn't that being redundant?

Summicron indicates f/2 in most cases. 8)

Yeah, Summicron almost always = f/2, just wanted to be as specific as possible . I'd go Summilux, but ouch on the price. I shoot wide open a lot.

John, I'm with you on the B&W and manual, I've been doing it for the last few months and I'm having a great time. I'm hoping to hook this Leica setup up before November, so I can take it on a few trips with me and really dig in.

Well, I just bought the camera. I found exactly what I was looking for so I hit the trigger, still need the lens though. Now lets see if I can sell the bass.
