Thanks for the props, Neil. Even though I favor the bass, I like to think that the mixes are fairly balanced. I noticed that your stuff has a big guitar sound. I love big guitars, too, but honestly your drop-D twins are too loud in the mix. Your bass sounds great but is only present in fleeting passages. It definitely deserves to hold more prominence as a staple to your rhythm section. And once you start adding vocals to the mix, the guitars are really going to need to come down. They cover a wide sonic range, and with that heavy saturation/distortion, their presence will still cut through just fine at a lower volume in the mix. Egos may have to be sacrificed for the greater good. (Way to alienate yourself from 2/5 of the band, Walker!)
Peter - don't be fooled by the appearance of the Bass Gopher in the HS cavity. That's merely how they get in & out, but trust me - they do all kinds of burrowing below the surface. Do you really want a chambered 4001??? It may sound interesting in concept, but those gophers don't know when to quit.
