Letter from F.C. Hall
I was going through the case for my 1st Rickenbacker, a 1982 Azureglo 330, and found an envelope with some screws in it and a typewritten letter from F. C. Hall himself! I suppose I'd fouled up the heads on the saddle adjustment screws, and had written to order some more. I had forgotten the whole episode, possibly because whatever went wrong was obviously due to my incompetent zeal... I got some parts (for free) and a detailed explanation from Mr. Hall on how to adjust the bridge properly. How about that! Later on, I wrote again about finding another one of the somewhat unusual Grover tuners that were in use at that time (this apparently indestructible guitar had been knocked out of a stand, resulting in a bent key and no other damage), and again, a free one just arrived in the mail. There's no point to this story aside from recalling the warm feeling I got from dealing with a company run by actual humans, who want their customers to be satisfied with their products!

Hi Mitch,
It's good to see you are around. I have not chatted with you for a while. That is a great story. Thanks for sharing it. Any chance you can take a photo of the letter and post it?
Best regards as always,
Brian

I took a picture of the letter but it exceeds the maximum file size. Is there someplace I can send it first where it can be made palatable to the Forum?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Cool indeed! I sure hope you've moved since that letter, Mitch! Pity the people living there now if any fan-atic finds this.

Very impressive letter from a very impressive guy. We need someone like Mr. Hall running GM, Ford, Chrysler, or even sitting in the oval office. It's too bad that we, in general, have let old-fashioned values like his slip away. Not only did he take the time to dicate that letter, sign it, and chase down the parts, he did it for no profit, other than his personal satisfaction that the customer was also completely satisfied with the best made guitars on the planet. Sounds like a mutually beneficial transaction to me.....
After reading a couple of other disappointing threads, I needed to see something like this letter. I'd frame it.

Right on, Tom. My guess is F.C. slept good at night, if you get my drift.beatbyrd wrote:Very impressive letter from a very impressive guy. Not to go on about it too much, but part of the nostalgic feeling that letter gave me was in the the writing style- friendly, but also to the point. It's as though people of that generation were always thinking of how much it would cost to send a telegram. I was watching an episode of Danger Man last night and it's the same thing- it's a 30 minute show and John Drake has to sort the situation out- now!

Thanks for the post topic Mitch. Very cool!
Re: Letter from F.C. Hall
Itoo have an old letter from F.C.Hall and I also like the genuine hands on approach that in my experience is alive and well in Mr.J.Hall.
These days its all electronic mail but its good to recieve such courtesey and interest from the top man in a company so well regarded in the (increasingly distant from Joe public) entertainment business.
Bending the thread slightly....
I havent seen any Danger Man repeats in recent years over here in England.
I was a big fan of the show when it was first broadcast back in the 60s.
John Drake was surely "The Prisoner" but we never heard his name mentioned.
Loved that show too!
+Great theme tunes for both shows.
PM was lined up for the role of 007 but he never took it aparrently because he didnt like the sex scenes and R. Moore was too busy being Simon Templar (filmed on the same sets with the same supporting actors as DM) to do Bond at that time so Connery got it.
