Bigger isn't always better

Post by marc61 »

Finally got my Markbass today(Signed by Marco himself on the top.NICE!). While I realize I will need another cabinet, for now, this set up is fine.

With the Ovation bass pictured, I'm getting a very nice clean punchy bass sound. Can't wait to get a Ric going through this thing.

Hope it works out for ya'. I have tried to downsize numerous times and found that it simply won't work for my situation. Bigger may not be better but may be necessary.

For me a Markbass 1x15 and my Ashdown 500 watt head are very, very adequate. I play jazz mostly, but I've used this rig for metal and rock groups too. No blues yet but I'm sure that'd work out fine as well.

Are you sure you didn't sign it, yourself?

You may find that it will sound better/louder with a 4Ω cabinet, so two cabs will be very nice. :D My F1 is a great sounding amp with my Ricks; being yours is a sig. version of the LM II I used to have you will love it.

#1,thats the same amp that comes in the cmd121p combo,it was pretty great for all but the loudest situations. (playing in a trio with the worlds heaviest hitting drummer AND world's most deaf lead guitarist left me wanting...) :|
that's an interesting bass-i have seen ovations that had all of that same hardware, but on a very different body.......

Yeah Jeff, eventually I'd like to get a 4x10 Markbass cabinet, or just another 2x10 to go with what I have now.

Seems to be a common color scheme going on with my equipment though.

Wall is actually off white. It's the lighting.

Now I gotta find a 4004 and have it refinned in the same color as the drum shells

I played an outdoor gig with an LMK head and a Bergantino 2 X 10" cabinet. Although the onstage volume seemed fine to me, the sound guy told me at the break that he had taken me out of the PA and I was still too loud! I've also just picked up a Bergantino 12" neo cabinet - its a nice addition to the 2 X10" if needed, and should be great (and light!) on its own for smaller gigs.

For many sound men the bass is something to stay in the background underneath the guitar and drums, Many sound men like to crank the kick and have the bass almost subliminal. They should always balance the sound no matter how loud it is if they can't get people to turn down,

Yup! Two separate channels with full EQ to play with - it works great!

I don't understand that thinking. I've even been to a Rush concert where I could barely hear Geddy Lee's bass!! That was in the Steinberger days. It's gotten a little better the past few years. I've been hearing the bass well much more often at shows I've been to and played at than the way it used to be.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)
