Eden cabs - opinions?

Post by chrisdski »

There is an EDEN D115XL Bass Cabinet available locally - asking $250. Opinions on this cab at this price? Sounds like it's in decent condition with cover and wheels.

Sounds like a great price! :D I can't comment on the sound of the cab, though.

I've got a ported Eden 2 x 10 Eden cab, that paired with a matched 1 x 15 (not an Eden) cabinet is one of the best combos I've ever used. I'm also pushing them with a 300 watt Genz Benz 500H head. However, I find that regardless of what I do with the head that either cab on it's own is pretty limiting for the rooms that we play - they tend to be larger bars with fairly decent sound systems so either cab on it's own doesn't really supply the stage volume or "bite" that I like. But the 2 of them together work amazingly.

There's a bass store here in town where the owner is really well connected, a lot of the manufacturers send him stuff in the development stage to get his input... And he's not a fan at all of the Eden heads and electronics but he says that for what the cabinets are, that they're a fine mid-level option. From his perspective, and in comparison he'll suggest to you that "high level" would be Ashdown, Bergantino, Phil Jones, Markbass and probably tc electronic.

It's definitely a good price. I'd suggest taking your head and bass over and trying it out for yourself. Good luck!

well, let me change the question- opinions on running single 15" cabs? I read some opinions that the bass can be too "boomy" on stage due to the air being thrown by a 15"- that it sounds better past 20 feet out or so. Any experience with this? I currently run a avatar 1-12" 4 ohm. This Eden cab is an 8 ohm, allowing an additional speaker cab if I wanted to eventually get another 8 ohm 2x10 or something. I run a markbass LM2 head. I tend to play more outdoor stage gigs then clubs and such.

The LM II seems to work best with a 4Ω cabinet. I used to have one but sold it when I got an F1 for a great price. I run mine into a DR Bass 4Ω 2-12 cabinet on loan from them until Marc finishes my custom 2-12/6.5" mid-high cabinet.

I run a single 15'' all the time. I'm not sure what "boom" people are talking about. In my experience, a single 15'' just gives you more presence and fullness than most 10'' configuration. But that's just me. More than anything what I would emphasize is that you go and try it out in person. What some guy on the internet, me or anyone else, says is worthless if you can't make it work out in your own life. Just go try this thing out and see what you think...

I had an Eden setup at one time and it was very nice, just a little too "clean" for my liking. I like a little dirt mixed in there. :)
