Mitch Easter Show in Georgia

Anyone here going to the Mitch Easter show at Kavarna in Decatur on October 31? I haven't been there yet, my neighbor's band has played there a couple of times and it sounds like a good venue.

Well, this was a great show. It was a good mix of Dynamico and Let's Active songs, with Mitch really rocking the Ric. Good job Mitch! He had a collection of guitars with him but for the Mitch Easter Band set played the 330 the most. I did not recognize the drummer but I thought he was a great addition to the band.

The show started a little late so ended later than I anticipated, so I headed out without having a chance to talk to anyone in the band. But Mitch, if you read this can you comment on using the Matamp live versus the Carr? Thanks!

BTW, Mitch used to own the guitar shown in my avatar. I don't own it and never did -- I just liked the photo and lifted it from the rumbleseat music site when they had it for sale. Mitch contacted me about that guitar recently and that's why we've been in touch.

slightly o/t...my son paid Mitch quite a compliment last week. We finally got a turntable set up in the apt. The first three groups he brought over via my old vinyl collection were Led Zeppelin, The Bongos and Let's Active.

The Carr amp is really more hi fi than the ancient Matamp, but I was thinking that the sort of contained frequency response of the Matamp is probably a good thing! I hear recordings of myself live and it often seems incredibly bright and lacking guts. With a bright guitar like the Rickenbacker, the Matamp isn't dull, it just gets rid of that HF splatter that's probably no good in a live situation, since live shows tend to be sort of rackety due to room acoustics, etc.
When I first got that Azureglo 330 my amp was an Ampeg Gemini II with a 15" speaker, and that worked well because it had lots of honk and none of that tempting super high end you might get with a Fender, etc. Weirdly enough I've never tried this guitar with an AC30 but I bet that would be good, especially once you're into that compression range.
The show at the Kavarna was the 4th one since I bypassed that LF cut cap on the bridge pickup- so I was still experimenting with that. This is a good modification! I think so many guitars have too much difference between the pickups, and for me it was impossible to ever use the bridge pickup alone on the 330. Now I can!
Anyway, I still think the Carr Vincent (now Viceroy) is a fantastic amp, I really just took the Matamp out for the heck of it. Where the Matamp really shines is on crunchy rock guitars- for that I've never heard anything better. 20 watts of antique glory!

ps Im interested to know more about this bypassed LF cut cap mod....did it change the tone or change the output of the back pup?

The tone, IIRC.

I use overwound toasters on the bridge p/ups of two of my 360 WBs; they're overwound to 14K/15K, and they use alnico III magnets; Sergio made the coils for me. They sound super sweet. One of them is the first Rick guitar, in Azure Glo Blue, which I ordered due to seeing Mitch play his AZ Blue 330 in "Let's Active's" "Every Work Means No" on video, and live, in person.

I wonder how many Azureglos were bought as a result of seeing Mitch's. It certainly played a factor in my refin decision! RIC should consider making a Limited Edition 330ME in AZ. I'd buy one, and so would a ton of others!

you guys are making me sick with this Azureglo talk I had a early 80s 320 that I put a accent trem on, that was a cool looking guitar.
I got to see Lets Active around the time of Big Plans/Every Dog and the bass player had a Azureglo 4001. could have been Tim Lee, I cant remember.
