That's the stuff I have. It sticks pretty well. I shielded a standard P-bass once with good results, but I didn't have quite the same luck on my DCM. I didn't do a thorough job, though, and was just hoping it would work. When I change strings on it, I'll give it another go. After looking at Kira's picture, I realized I'm going to have to shield the jack plate, too. I probably wouldn't have thought of that otherwise.

considering the bass undergoing all the above surgeries,yes paul,you're in the right place......i took her in for shielding,and realized it was time for some deferred maintenance.....and the topic sort of "broadened" from there..... mr dave informs me my new frets are in,mebbe it will be ready this weekend---i am still trying to find out about getting some nut blanks,joshua!

last posting 25 july,and now FINALLY....it's back! i just picked up my 4000 yesterday. oh my goodness,i was really not sure what to expect,i have had that bass for close to 8 years now,and really have never used it much. it now has new beefier frets,a new antler nut (VERY hard material,evidently) and the maxima flatwounds,plus the requisite neck and bridge tweaking. this bass feels really solid,plays better than ever,and sounds fantastic. it has been a long wait (my luthier friend has had some ongoing health issues,but is doing a lot better in the last month) but it has been worth it! one other unexpected thing was that in the process of putting in the new frets, the gloss on the fingerboard was reduced to a matte finish,and i think i am going to leave it that way-it feels really nice and it has a different look,rather more like my cii and my old 4002 fretboards. and it is reversible,all i have to do is buff it out if i want to restore the gloss. if i can find a way,i will post pics and hopefully a sound clip at some point. cheers!

it sounds good,too,paul! i tried a memo recording app on my iphone,but was unable to download it. "m4a not accepted", i don't have access to any recording resource at this time,but i am looking.....probably just as well,the recording i think shows both the good (tone) and the bad (my sloppy playing)......
