The inlays are just the standard ones that they had at the time.
I love that bass.
I always wanted a Burgandyglo and for years I talked about it and the ex-girlfriend was against me getting it.
So I found one on e-bay and traded her for the bass.
Ha ha!

I have it's twin from 1979:

Also near-mint. Note the batch of beige TRC's from 1979. I have another on my '79 4005 and have seen many others from late '78 - '79. Also strange for '79 (and I've seen this on a bunch of '79's) note the long bridge height adjuster screws. The tail has holes through it so that the bridge height adjuster screws sit on the maple.

under the tailpiece (i think a replacement, but looks too vintage to be an Allparts) of my '79 lefty there are a couple of marks where probably the original bridge adjustment screws went thru the original tailpiece. i wondered why, now i know :)

This is my first post here. Hello.

Nice to meet you all.

A week ago today my Ric arrived, in perfect time to unveil it to my bandmates at practice on Thursday night. They had no idea and I was so excited.

Thursday rocked around and due to illness practice was cancelled. Gah, oh well.

I pushed a bit to make sure we had practice on Monday, and took along my Ric, a 4003 in Fireglo, and they were all really shocked but happy.

And I got to hear it properly, with my amp turned up, rather than on '1' or just though headphones in the house. I was grinning lots.

Then last night (Tuesday) I played my first gig with the Ric. It was ace, so good, and I got loads of comments about the sound, and some about the look (although I was standing in the shadows at the side of the stage as that's where the headline act put their bass amp, which I was also playing through).

But yes, here I am over to the right of the shot, 'hiding' my Ric in the dark.

You can also see five eighths of my band in this picture. One of our vocalists is just out of shot, our violist was unable to make this gig, and our trumpet player is on holiday in Australia at the moment.

Anyhow, I think I probably could stand to learn plenty about my Ric, so hopefully I'll be picking up all sorts of hints from you lot.

This post is just to say that I'm very happy.

Oh no, I've not accidentally upset someone have I?

If it helps, I've been kicking around other forums with this name for blinkin' ages.

Thanks for the welcome.

Nah, it is just quite unusual to see that used by another, just the aitch part; that is used by Howard Bishop, one of our resident drunkard fine upstanding citizens. :P

I seeeeee, sorry Aitch.

I suspect he and I have probably been thinking along the same lines, my username is very unimaginative, it's just a phoneticish take on my initials.

I'll be playing my second gig with the Ric, a week today, I can't wait to get back on stage with her.

There's already a queue of people hoping to steal it.

That was Howard's take on the initial of his first name. No worries, I'm sure Howard will get a kick out of this. You can be Aitch Jr. Welcome to the forum! :)

Welcome to the RRF Jonathan.... glad you are so happy with your new Ric Bass. :D
Question ---- is your guitarist on the other side playing some sort of Fireglo Ricken-faker ? :(

The pics a little blurred and while the pickguard and body shape look somewhat familar, the neck inlays etc are definitely not authentic.
