Bottom E Strings Always Sound Flat

Post by drumbob »

On my 330-12, I have noticed lately that the bottom E strings always sound flat on every fret, even when the strings are perfectly in tune. Could this be an easy intonation adjustment or something more serious?

Since they both sit on the same saddle, perhaps your intonation is off. You should really use new strings(at least the low E pair)in setting it. One option, anyway.

Mike...The strings are brand new. I had the guitar set up two months ago. I think I need to take it back to my tech. The neck is a little warped anyway, probably due to the change of seasons.

Roger McGuinn addresses this problem in his 12-sting guitar instructional video. He offers a possible solution that might resolve the issue.

I ordered a 12 saddle bridge from Pick O Ricks. According to my tech, that should solve the problem. Thanks for your advice.
