Question re 4003S/5 strings
I've seen on different 4003s/5 basses the muffler bar on some having the two turning pegs intact (like on regular new 4003 models) and on others there are just two holes, no pegs. Can anyone explain is this a design difference from RIC or do different owners remove them? Thanks!
Re: Question re 4003S/5 strings
My 1989 4003S/5 SPC Blackstar had the mute bar (missing the foam pad - probably worn out) and thumbscrews when I got it.
When I restored it (the tailpiece was bent badly) I put a new foam pad on the mute.
My 1997 4003S/5 FG also has the mute bar and thumbscrews.
So, I'm thinking that the ones that lack the mute bar and thumbsrews have had them removed by a previous owner.

I know that mine is intact.
It sat in a case for nearly 20 years, barely being played.
