Might be interesting. John looks pretty good, but you'd think they could find a closer lookalike to Paul.
Ka is a wheel.

It does look interesting, I'll probably go see it.

Doesn't the title bother anyone? John was everything but, "Nowhere".

Yeah, but none were timed to release along with the Rock Band intro and the remastering, too...

yea, me too..... or just wait for the Blockbuster rental
>>>John looks pretty good, but you'd think they could find a closer lookalike to Paul
actually I think its the other way around.... Pauly looks a bit young for the part, but that guy doesn't look like John at all.

Good point

Haa.... by jove, I think you're right!

At least it appears that they make some attempt at getting the instrument right......But it appears that the "Paul" character is WAY too short - Paul was the tallest Beatle.
But when I hear lines like John saying "I'm going to start a rock'n'roll group" I have to wonder how accurate this film really tries to be. At that time he would have said "skiffle group".... certainly not "rock'n'roll group" at that early stage.

Pass indeed. Why watch an "untold story" of what's already been put into print? John had a hard life. He wrote enough about it for me. I also seriously doubt anything presented as fact in this screenplay.
So, I can get more out of listening to his music than seeing some teeny boppers try to portray a phenomenon that may never be seen again.

Can we have everything louder than everything else?
Re: New John Lennon movie: Nowhere Boy
It's not essential for the actors to resemble the young Beatles in my opinion -if they're convincing as the characters. 'Backbeat' (best Beatles pic to date) had a less-than accurate John (the Paul was spot-on as I recall), but his performance was great -though it's hard to understand heavy scousing for me sometimes. They endeavored to get the instruments correct too.
Is 'Nowhere Boy' the first to go so far back into John's teen years?
He became more and more of a nutter which each step he took from 1967 onward. Ever read what he said he wanted to do with his mother had she not been killed? Yikes! Definitely have to separate the art from the artist when it comes to John.
It still amazes me that the kid, raised by his doting aunt in Liverpool, grew up to write 'Nowhere Man', 'Help', 'In My Life', 'And Your Bird Can Sing', 'Julia', etc.
Just an astonishing body of work from an unlikely source.

...and not take any of his quotes or musings out of context. Try to keep them in the perspective of the long arc of his short life.longhouse wrote:

He was in Liverpool though...I like the city but it's apparently a much nicer place than it was up until 15 or so years ago.jingle_jangle wrote:Doesn't the title bother anyone? John was everything but, "Nowhere".
Nope - "In My Life" covered this exact same time period, and was shot in Liverpool and everything.longhouse wrote:Is 'Nowhere Boy' the first to go so far back into John's teen years?
Also, we all know there was a lot going on in JL's heart and mind, but I don't know if I'd call his upbringing a "hard life." He lived in the suburbs, y'all. He didn't go hungry.
A feeling of abandonment from his natural parents? Surely. But not slum life.

Re: New John Lennon movie: Nowhere Boy
'IML' was even shot inside John's house. 'Nowhere Boy' just looks like a less-accurate remake.kennyhowes wrote:Nope - "In My Life" covered this exact same time period, and was shot in Liverpool and everything.longhouse wrote:Is 'Nowhere Boy' the first to go so far back into John's teen years?
Re: New John Lennon movie: Nowhere Boy
I saw "In My Life" (I think it's really "In HIS Life") before, they could have covered more of The Beatle years and less of the Hamburg years. It was, however, more accurate than "Backbeat".
