Just check out the front headstock photo of the one in the UK and marvel at the sophisticated way the guitar is suspended.
I'm damn sure that I wouldn't hang a 9 grand (9 grand UK that is or 15 grand US) vintage guitar by its 45 year old vintage machineheads with a dirty piece of string, letting it scrape against the uneven white-washed surface of an outside brick wall !!!
In fact, I just wouldn't do that to any guitar.
So from this you can conclude that its been "well looked after and cherished" by the seller.

Seeing that piece of history suspended there like that made my teeth itch.

If you check out his other listing, the wall and string (and probably "the rusty nail" for the string to hang off) features in quite a few.
There's a '65 Jazz Bass treated to the same abuse along with 2 '64 Precision Bass's
AND a 1957 Strat... what a total idiot!!!
The '57 Strat does get a black shoelace it must be said.

Would you buy a used guitar from this man???

Cheers

well, since it obviously is NOT a 9 grand guitar (it has been listed at that price numerous times and of course has not been sold), they probably don't mind :D

Yeah, true, any guitar is only worth what anybody is willing to pay for it.
E-Bay is full of dreamers who think they have something worth loads of cash... but as you say they are always relisted a month or two after just incase someone has come along with more cash than brains.

But you wouldn't hang it on a grotty outside wall with a bit of dirty string by its machineheads would you... whatever it's worth?

You would think that selling all them vintage guitars at them prices that he would be able to afford a guitar stand or two by now.

i'm gonna say that running man is just jealous cause they have a dirty piece o' string an he don't ! oh, yeah...and a rusty nail . lol. maybe they're going for that retro beatles cavern days ambience...the grittyness of it all ???

just noticed on the german listing...for you ww2 buffs...look at the last pic (lower right) is that not an updated version of the totenkopf or in english, the deaths head emblem the germans used ? hmmmmmmm.
