Ric Artists - is a mess :)
Ric Artists - is a mess :)
With so many duplicate -and triplicate -and more postings of the same band and artists in the Rickenbacker Artists forum, how do you feel about creating an index?
In the index (a sticky topic with an alphabetized directory) we could compile, for example, all the relative Johnny Marr, the Church, Motorhead, etc. topics under a single link. Nothing changes as to the layout as it is, but searching and posting becomes easier. It how we've organized other bb sites I've moderated.

Re: Ric Artists - is a mess :)
I think that is a great idea and it will organize the section in a manner that people would find the artist they would most like to post about.Id be most open to a easier more accessible artists section.Im all for forward thinking and the bettering of a great guitar forum. Maybe Gil would like to add further as he would be the Technical whizz of the RRF.

Re: Ric Artists - is a mess :)
Im just throwing this for debate what about maybe a 60s 70s 80s etc etc? naturally Im up for anyone`s input in making the artists section great to visit.
Ric Artist Index
Or...
Click to see list the artists:
alphabetized
by decade ('course some of our guys span the decades!)
by genre (though I'm personally against this sort of categorization)
classic view (newest posts)

Yes he is..........scotty wrote:Maybe Gil would like to add further as he would be the Technical whizz of the RRF.

Let's see what he has to say.

There are many different approaches that could be taken here. As the number of posts grow, it gets more difficult to find information easily. We will help any way we can, Scotty. Thanks to Longhouse for the suggestion.
We can certainly divide the topic area into subgroups, being mindful as information grows this too becomes a problem. The good news is that we only have 1500 topics to organize.

Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Re: Ric Artists - is a mess :)
It would be nice if we could effectively advise everyone to make their thread titles a little more specific. For example, if someone posts a clip of Motorhead's performance from 1/2/34 at the So & So Ballroom in Yourtown, USA, put something a little more descriptive than "Motorhead!" for a title of that thread. (This example was fictional and arbitrary. If someone actually did this, it is purely coincidental.)

Yup,
The Subject should be as informative as possible.

So long and thanks for all the fish!
Re: Ric Artists - is a mess :)
Well, not make this a "du-uh" issue, but there already is an alphabetical etc. list of Rickenbacker artists ...
http://www.rickresource.com/main/
Then click on the Artists link on the left:
Of course, I don't know how up to date the list is, but Peter will know for sure.
So, what's next, reinvent the wheel?

I get the impression that since maintaining the Forum is so involved, there has been neither time nor much need to keep the "old" sections updated. I think that would require several Peters.
