Awesome. You had better NOT sell that Bass VI before I get there!!!!!!!
You know, the way you go through guitars like Georgia goes through Charmin. Or something like that...
Edit: to add: I had one of those mid 90's Jazzmasters. They were awesome for the price! I was so angry that 1) they discontinued it so quickly and 2) I had already sold mine!!! I went into a RAAAAAAAGE!!!!!!!!!

Jdog, bring the Bass VI with you after you pick it up from John.
Nice cache of instruments, John!
Do you still have any Ricks?

Cool stuff, JB.
Really like the Bass VI. John Entwistle complained that there's a lot of trouble getting bottom end out of a Bass VI. Do you think that you can get bottom end from it? Rounds or flats on it?
Les Paul? Never thought I'd see the day! You said it can get any tone you want out of it. It's a beaut. I myself like Les Pauls, but they don't like me. Every one I've played is heavy and I just can't bond with it. Prefer the smaller and lighter weight of the SG. Is your's lighter or heavier than a 330?
Can't go wrong with a Jazzmaster. Love 'em. Sonic blue, too. My favorite Fender custom color, as I've said many a time.

Very cool. It's rare that the comments on YouTube actually match the video, but I thought this one just nailed it:
"popular music as art. The staging, the strings, so easy to call it corny. You go ahead and write a song like this. You only get two verses to express the length of that highway, the solitude of a worker on the road, worried, weary, jealous thoughts, longing to be back in his baby's arms. The numbing rumble of the highway, white line fever, threat of heavy weather. That's what I hear."

Yep! In fact, I'm picking up my v68 from Chris this weekend at the Philly show, got an Electro ES-17 arriving soon, and my 330 should be coming from Dale pretty soon too.jps wrote:Do you still have any Ricks?

It's chambered and therefore lighter than most Ricks. So yeah.JakeK wrote:Is your's lighter or heavier than a 330?.

John,
Awesome looking Bass VI. I had a CIJ reissue several years back and really liked it. I regret selling it.
The Jazzmaster looks great. Does it have Antiquities in it?
Your Electro will ship out tomorrow. You'll have another cool guitar in the arsenal shortly

Huh, actually I'm not sure which Duncans they are. I'll have to pop the pickguard one of these days and see! Looking forward to getting my new toy.tonebender67 wrote:The Jazzmaster looks great. Does it have Antiquities in it?

Re: A few of my recent acquisitions...
Isn't a Fender VI also used on Ted Nugent's "Little Miss Dangerous"? I read in an interview that's what he played the bass part on.

Forgive me for knowing my guitar terms like Lennon, but what does "chambered" mean?sloop_john_b wrote:It's chambered and therefore lighter than most Ricks. So yeah.JakeK wrote:Is your's lighter or heavier than a 330?.
Re: A few of my recent acquisitions...
It means that hollowing out of large areas of the body is done with a router. Then a back is put on over the routes. This is the way that typical Rick semi-hollow models have been made.JakeK wrote:Forgive me for knowing my guitar terms like Lennon, but what does "chambered" mean?sloop_john_b wrote:It's chambered and therefore lighter than most Ricks. In the Les Paul's case, the maple top is glued over the mahogany back. Gibson started chambering because light mahogany is more expensive. Les Pauls since the about the 1980s have had some kind of weight-relieving holes (unless they're reissues). John's guitar is a part of a special run of reissues with chambering.
