So does that make "Surfer Girl" basically the most quintessential Beach Boys tune? :lol:

OK, semantics, Collin. "Most quintessential" is like, "extrasuperfluous".

I think this would make "Surfer Girl" the quintessential pre-'65 Beach Boys ballad. However, "Your Summer Dream" is just as qualified, if a bit more obscure.

What's the best non-ballad from this period, including all three themes?

Prolly "Surfin' Safari"?
