That would work as long as the finish does not come off with it when the TRC is taken off for adjustments.

Re: 360/12 truss rod cover
When I did it the 2 screws held it flat to the guitar quite firmly. It would be quite difficult to catch it at such an agle that it pulled up and cracked the truss at the 2 screws, but hey we are just trying to save the guy from drilling into his stock Ric. If it were me I would and have..taken the chance..

Don't forget that a 12 string TRC is also held in place by the strings.

Re: 360/12 truss rod cover
I discovered that while trying to remove my existing TRC.

Here is a photo of the gap between the TRC and nut. I think this weekend I will try to refit the TRC by filling and drilling. Wish me luck.
By the way, I'm still working on getting an upper pickguard and replacement tuner.

hmm, that gap isn't even too bad (to my eyes, anyway). I'd just let it be!

Re: 360/12 truss rod cover
Even if I left the TRC in this position with the gap, I would still have to drill a hole for the third screw (I don't think I want to use two sided tape or a dummy screw head), so I figured that since I am drilling I might as well try to fit it the best I can.

Looks like a replacement nut to me. What is the width (front to back)?
Re: 360/12 truss rod cover
The nut is about 1/16". I already attached the replacement TRC anyway.
