If you have a DB5, there is a pretty good chance you don't care how much maintenence is.

Besides, any Aston (even modern), is simply art.

The early 900s are very hard to find in excellent condition. I know, because I check often.

We've got one of those Paul, it was my dads and has been stored in the garage for what seems a very very long while now.

It's got a fitting UK name plate for the car.

I'd swap every Christmas wish I ever had to see him again this year.

SAAB hijack in progress...

My first SAAB Turbo was a 1980 3-door in Carmine Red, back when they had the only slightly longer nose, and those crazy "Inca" wheels. At the time, Brock Yates called them, "Formula Hammurabi" wheels. They did look Babylonian...

My first-ever Turbo; got it new from Vasek Polak SAAB in Manhattan Beach in September '79; immediately had the grille blacked out and the windows tinted, and received my first CHP ticket for the tint, within a few days. If I could find a twin in nice shape, with <50K, I'd be on it like a hobo on a ham sandwich!

Back then these were fairly uncommon, even in LA, and I recall a number of times when someone would ask at a stop light, "is that a diesel?", I suppose because Mercedes Turbo Diesels were in vogue then.

I had lots of fun driving it on the mountain roads around Idyllwild, and a blast through one or another canyon was always fun, even if it left passengers a bit queasy. I traded it in in mid '82 for a (deleted), which lasted 18 months before I traded it back in for a new SAAB, an '84 Turbo 3-door in Walnut Brown. The love affair was on again.

That one lasted for well over 200K, and got traded on a '90 SPG in Charcoal, with all the bells and whistles, including full leather, power sunroof, climate control, etc., etc.

It was sold in '95 when I bought my Silver Shadow, and I traded speed and handling for sheer comfort and the "screw you" factor. No matter how I drove in the Shadow, I NEVER got a ticket, only a warning. Six years in the Shadow, and I sold it and got a 2001 9-3 Turbo, and finally got my wish for a SAAB convertible--a deep blue one with tan leather, which served me well until the Jag came along.

I have to say that I'm not too enthused with what GM did to Saturnize SAAB. My '01 didn't come close to the feel of the '80, and the electronics proved a weak point. After I tired of the '01, I looked hard for awhile for an early 900 in near-mint condition, but, failing to find one, I popped for the XJ8 and have not been disappointed in any department--speed, comfort, or handling.

But the 900 tugs at my heartstrings everytime I see a photo, 'cause they're thin on the roads, at least around here.
