New Guitar

Post by raider »

I've been a way for a while now and I sold my 350V63 and my Amp
This past Sunday I went to a local music store and played a 330 and a 360
Rickenbacker. Then I went over to a friends house and he has a 330 Rickenbacker
in Fireglow and we played it thru my amp its a reissue Fender 40th Anniversary
Twin Reverb. His 330 sounded so sweet and you could hear every note so now
I'm starting to save for either a 330 or 360 Rickenbacker. His 330 has the High
Gain pickups and the ones at the music store had the same. I was thinking of
going with Toaster after I get the guitar because the music store said they
would switch them out or should I stay with the High Gains :?: I miss not
having a Rickenbacker the other guitars that I've had just don't have that
sound. 8)

Nice to see you posting again, Lou.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

+1 :D

I wouldn't sweat the pick-up issue ... you liked the sound of the high-gains, obviously, so I'd stick with those for the time being.

BTW, the Fender TR is a great choice of amp IMO.

Welcome back to the Forum. The Capitol District's representation here is thin as it is. Did he get it at Parkway up in Clifton Park (literally around the corner from where I live), or is there another guitar store in the area that sells Rickenbackers?

Ben yea the 330 and 360 are up at Parkway I was there over
the weekend. My favorite is still the 350V63 I would like to
get another one but the prices are just out of reach for me.
Right now it looks like it will be the 330 unless they get a
350V63 then I would decide between the two. If the 350V63
was the same price as the 330 then it would be no question.
I know that not going to happen so maybe sometime we can meet
at Parkway 8) so what I'm doing is saving my money so that in the
first half of next year I should have enough save to get the 330 I
like the one in Mapleglow because you can see the grain of the
wood better :D

My friends 330 Rickenbacker was bought at Parkway Music
in Clifton Park. He has the one in Fireglow and there one
guitar that I should also look at the 360 or 330 12 string
but with big hands it may be hard for me to play. Latter
today I'm going up to Parkway and play the 330 & 360
again to see which one I like 8)

Talked to guys at Parkway today and I asked about the 350V63
and to order one about a year and a half. So it looks like the
330 in Mapleglow unless they get one in Fireglow. I did check
the internet and there are a couple of music stores that have some
350V63 in stock in different colors 8)

I'm from upstate New York. I bought a 360/12 from parkway! It's a pretty good store. In my experience lately the setups on the 330s at Parkway have been pretty bad. They're pricing is also a bit expensive, particularly for the 350. If i were you i'd just get a guitar from wildwood, they're cheaper, tax free and shipping was included. That's what I did.

I haven't heard of Wildwood could you please give there web sight.
Parkway is a little high in their prices they want 2100.00 for the
350V63 before Tax. Is that to high becasue I checked another
store and for a 350V63 in Amberfireglow they wanted $ 2595.00
and the same for a 370 in Buleburst which I thought was high.
That seems like a lot for a Rickenbacker.

I was checking some web sights today and looking at different guitars
and I thought about everything that I have had in the past. My first Rickenback
was back in 1988 and it was a 360 in Fireglow 8) Now that brings me to today
my Amp is a reissue Fender 40th Anniversary Twin Reverb with Blond Textured
Vinyl with Wheat Grill Cloth. Now I like the way my friends 330 sounded but my
favorite has always been the 350V63 I also like the reissue 1997 and the 360V64
and the 360 8) There are a lot of choices can I have some help I play 60's Beatles
Byrds, Searchers, and Paul Revere and the Raiders :)

Go with your favorite...you'll keep coming back to that if you're anything like me.

Personally, I think the modern 350 might be one of the sexiest, most versatile Rics ever.

+1 Any of the possibilities you list would be great for the sound you're looking for. (The RI Twin Reverb is great, as well!)
