I think it's pretty cool, as in "gee, what a funny looking thing, with bells and whistles," not "wow---I want to drive one so badly."
If GM could focus on making a car with even half of all that, make it well-built, "green," stylish, and affordable to the masses-----THEN they might survive long enough to build a wildly futuristic car like this.
Now if the manufacturer can only get the price down to say, something closer to between a Ford Focus and a Honda Accord, or like vehicles from other brands, they'll have a real market! I like it!
I'd prolly just store a couple of extra body shells in the rafters of my garage and put them on myself; I'll take the convertible, and the panel truck for gigs!
John, you need to see the Hindenburg episode of Mythbusters ... IIRC, they concluded that the skin of the zeppelin was actually the source of the ignition and subsequent fire, not the hydrogen (which, of couse, did burn once the fire started).

This GM thing is only a trial balloon with the usual press puff pieces to justify its budget. It's really dopey as everyday transport, as you're sitting on top of the nasty business.

It is all politics plus a commitment to the US government to develop these fuel cell vehicles. They received federal funds to do this. The truth is the cost to manufacture the power-train for the amount of power needed, plus the cost of the fuel including the infrastructure to deliver it, has yet to make these affordable. I will be surprised if I see these in production in my lifetime
I agree 100%, unless a major commitment to infrastructure happens; not likely IMO.
I believe that the #1 threat to the planet is not CO2, but water vapor, and...guess what fuel cell vehicles emit? Yep, and lots of it, too!
I think fuel cells are a dead end...at least where vehicles are concerned. But, where there's money to be taken out of government coffers, well...
BTW, when GM stock went underwater, I thought that their stock was the best investment out there. So far, it seems that they are hanging on and will survive, leaner and meaner. Fingers crossed.
Oh, and the new Camaros are popping up like mushrooms, but uglier. And the redo of the latest Mustang is a nightmare. Give me a Challenger, though I've never been a huge Chrysler fan, at least not of anything they've made since '65...and that includes the old Challengers!

Honda stopped production of the 'old style' Insight hybrid (like mine) in 2006, IIRC, but has replaced it with the 'new style' Prius clone (ugh). I think I remember reading somewhere that Honda's original plan was to replace the Insight with a hybrid version of the Fit.
The conspiracy you allude to was in regard to GM's EV-1 and some other all-electric cars which were destroyed ... it's too political an issue to discuss further, but I recommend the recent movie on the subject (IIRC, "Who Killed The Electric Car" is the title).
