That would look great refinished in the new FG. You have to see past that awful paint job I guess.

Eew! That needs to be restored. Case is not original either. Cool guitar, though.

Re: SO UGLEE IT'S OO-GLEE
It's only $500.00; not a bad price for one of these.
Re: SO UGLEE IT'S OO-GLEE
That's so ugly, it's actually funny!
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: SO UGLEE IT'S OO-GLEE
If I didn't already have one I'd be tempted too, at that price. Great guitar!

Re: SO UGLEE IT'S OO-GLEE
I was unaware that these have a mahogany body or is that a typo?

Re: SO UGLEE IT'S OO-GLEE
Mahogany body is correct for these; that's what mine is.

Guess I'll post a pic of what it should look like (minus Bigsby, of course):

Bridge plate and knobs in this pic are replacements. I've since installed the correct knobs.

I sort of like it.
If it were done nicely, ie not with a paintbrush, it would look coolish.

Re: SO UGLEE IT'S OO-GLEE
to be fair, those are pretty ugly regardless of paint... a bit of a low point in Rickenbackers design history.
Re: SO UGLEE IT'S OO-GLEE
To be fair, perhaps in your opinion, Nick. I (and I'm sure many others) don't find them 'ugly' as such - perhaps 'different' or 'plain' in comparison to Rickenbacker's more well known offerings.tennis_nick wrote:to be fair, those are pretty ugly regardless of paint... a bit of a low point in Rickenbackers design history.
I've played the one Kira posted a picture of and whilst it may not appeal to you as a 'looker', as a 'player' it's an excellent guitar.

You're right about that, Howard. It's a great playing guitar with a unique sound, the kind of sound Keef would like. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I guess.ozover50 wrote:
