I agree, I just haven't had the luck to come across an FG and cash at the same time...if I had my choice for my next Ric, it'd either be an FG or BBR.

You can still see the wonderful grain on the wood, and the Walnut wings through the lustrous red.

Just my two cents !!
You're right, Jim. Guess I'll go Fireglo anyway, supposingly I have the choice. When I'm ready money-wise, I'll buy what I'll find. There are not many brand new RICs in stock in Europe these days. Hopefully I'll have a bit of choice.

Wishing you'll find music mates soon, Javier. Let's cross fingers for you. These honey basses deserve to be played live again. RIC basses deserve more sightings !

And Rickengrowl, thanks for the good vibes...it's been a pain in the a...looking for new bandmates. I really need to get back into it!!!!

Yes Javier, it's often very hard to find the right partners to play the right music. Good luck !

I've seen a few Gibson Les Pauls with a pretty nice "fireglo" finish...as far back as 1959...so I think they might have a few years on Rickenbacker...Just sayin!
The new Rick Fireglo IS beautiful! No more "Clown-Glo!"

Welcome back, Jean!

Fireglo is the way to go for your re-aquisition of a Rickenbacker bass! Like what Jim said, Fireglo is the ultimate Rickenbacker finish. To boot, the new Fireglo is absolutely gorgeous since Eric B. leads the RIC finish department. I was offered a price I could not resist for my '98 FG a couple of months ago. I'll definitely get a new 4003 FG again hopefully by mid 2010!

Thanks Paul. Is it the photo or what ? But I think the current Fireglo is a bit too "brownish" and not "reddish" enough.
For me, the real Fireglo is somewhere between the current one and what AtomicPunk calls "Clown-Glo". Isn't it ?

To be more specific, THIS is what I call Fireglo.

The fireglo colour from 2001 to 2006 is very close to the example you gave, Jean. You might want to put an eye out for 4003 FG's from that era.
