What amp are you plugging your Rick into?

Normally play at home through a Vox Pathfinder, which does the trick. Recently joined a band and have been using the drummer's late '70's Kustom 3 Lead SC solid state twin...and I love it! Very clear, lots of punch when you need it...makes my 460 just sing. I can do a pretty decent Peter Buck now. The only down side is the weight, as it must be close to 100lbs

Yeah Chris, I have a Kustom, too. And they really are boat anchors. I've changed my mind about how they sound, though. At first, I didn't care for mine. But I've since realized that mine is what it is, pure and simple.

Hey Jim - yeah, it's true, this amp is definitely its own thing...doesn't sound quite like any other I've tried out. What a monster! Seeing as it's not mine, though, I've been scanning this thread to get ideas for what I'll eventually pick up...probably a Traynor YCV40WR or a Vox AC-15CC1X if I can muster the funds. For now, this Kustom is a ton of fun.

My 360V64 goes through a '65 Vox AC10 with Webers most of the time. I did the mod to the input channels to get more gain out of the "front" jacks, and it really snarls now. Dark, but appropriately so. (Teles sound especially good through that amp too.)

I used to play it through a blackface Fender Bandmaster into a beat-to-shreds blonde Bassman 2x12 with JBLs in it, but that thing was so clean and loud I couldn't use it at small- to medium-sized venues - almost as bad as a Twin! I literally blew up the Bandmaster head a couple years ago while using it for bass with a faulty power tube. Some day I'll get into it and find out what resistors, et al, burned up, and try to make it work again....

For the last month or so I've set aside my Fawn Tolex AC30 for an AC30 H2 ; I really like the pentode mode, and usually favor the EF86 channel.

The cream/white tolex doesn't look bad either. Probably my only complaint about the amp is that Vox used pleather instead of real leather for the handles-why bother? If real leather's too much trouble, I'd rather have the standard Vox handles. I can't see the pleather handles lasting for any length of time with regular use.

My 40th anniversary Twin Rev RI seems be a favorite at the bi-monthly jams as well.

I needed an amp that I could use in the house without blowing out my wife's ears. I started with an AC30, but ended up with an Orange Crush. It's got a nice sound.

The BG 4005WB is into the 66' B-15N! I'm no Einsteins' wife, but this equation works well with molecules!!

My main gigging amp is a 50's Standel all tube S80 model head with matching cab (with 12 inch JBL)


You can see it in the background in this pic, sounds great with anything, like my Maphis Model TNM Doubleneck, or My Rics, 66 345, 09 360C63, and 350V64, or my 58 Guild CE100D. I also really like my Blackstar Artisan 30 which is a very nice take on an AC30, also of course for smaller venues my Silver Panel Deluxe Reverb.

I also use a late 50's Standel 50L15, as well as a Brown Face Pro with a 15 inch JBL, and my white tolex Bassman rig.. All of this starts with a Black panel 65 Fender Reverb unit, and my Carl Martin Quattro!! oh yeah and a Fulltone TTE

in my opinion Rickenbacker guitars sounds well in many amplifiers. I found best match with Vox AC30 TB, better if from JMI era, this is the way I do
