End of the line for the 660?

Post by sloop_john_b »

I noticed this while shopping for parts in the RIC boutique:

I wonder if this means the 660 is going to be phased out of production?

If that's true, perhaps we'll see a wide-necked hollowbody model for players with larger hands...just thinking out loud.

Not trying to be a downer, but wouldn't a wide-necked hollow body use the same nut as a 660?

Well, my thought was that they'd introduce a 12-string wide necked hollowbody in place of the 660/6, which I don't think is a huge seller (compared to the 660/12 anyway).

Well, that makes sense. But the way RIC talks about neck widths, the chance is probably a slim one. Good luck.

If the 660 is phased out, I don't think it'll be that bad. Now if they phased out the 660/12, then there'd be a problem.

The 660/6 will not be phased out, nor are there plans to phase it out, got it?

The 660 is iconic so why would we even think RIC would ever consider phasing it out? Thanks Ben for squashing this speculation before it grew legs and became a full blown rumour.

So the chances, not the necks, are slim?
