Introduction - bluewhale
Hello. I am new to the RickResource Forum and want to introduce myself. I play bass and a little guitar. I played in bands growing up in Southern California years ago - rock, disco, high school jazz - but now it is a hobby. Chris Squire's playing got me interested in bass, the 4001 in particular, and I still like to listen to him. My favorites from Squire (and Yes) are the albums "Tales From Topographic Oceans" and "Relayer."
My main bass is a '78 4001 Burgundy. I am almost the original owner; the bass was a gift from my parents in May 1978, bought used. I am still getting to know my '08 4004Cii, but it seems like a (very well made) blunt instrument in comparison, demanding to be played hard with a pick. I also really enjoy my 4001V63 and 381V69, both lucky finds. I am very curious to find out what will replace the 4001C64.
I am looking forward to being a member of this forum, and to learning more about Rickenbacker guitars and basses from the wealth of information that continues to grow here.

Welcome, Steve. Yup, this is the place for all your Rickenbacker questions, comments, observations, ...and yeah, probably RAS, too (Rickenbacker Acquisition Syndrome). If you don't already suffer from it, you probably will. It's contagious.

Hey Steve, welcome to the fray! Yeah, a common saying around here is, "it isn't true with out pictures" or variations on that theme. We just can't get enough pictures of Ricks.
Anyway, a '78 4001 huh? I've got a '76 thatI still think is the best I've got. My '08 4004Cii (now a 4004Cjj due to mods) is nice, but, just not quite there yet, hence the ongoing mods. Do try to get some pics up of your Ricks, I'd sure love to see that '78 Burgundy 4001!
