Bassic Colors No. 19 – Cheyenne Specials

Post by bassduke49 »

Since the introduction of the "Cheyenne II" (4004Cii), RIC has stated in its literature that three new colors were available only for that model. These attractive "translucent" colors are Trans Red (TR), Trans Blue (TB), and Trans Green (TG). I'm not at all sure how these colors are applied, so I'm only guessing that they are tinted clear coats with no untinted clear on top. Ben, Eric, please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm throwing them all together for this week's Bassic Colors listing because we may not get to see many of them. Here are one of each that I shot at the Confluences: Joey Vasco's TR five-string, Erik Kutzler's TB, and Jason Mendelson's TG.

So any others out there who would like to show?

It's extremely rare that I'm ever impressed with the look of a green guitar, but the Trans Green Cii that Jdog had is one of them. The other time was when I saw Eric Behring's Rick.

That Trans Red Cii/5 in the pic above has since gotten the Scratch X/Zymol treatment which made the figure in the wood not camera shy anymore.

That Trans Green is really difficult to photograph. I found that the finish comes out looking "olive" in dim or indoor lighting. Here's how it looks in sunlight.

Same for the Trans Blue:

The Mapleglo finish, however, looks just fine in indoor lighting:

I got to say that as for green guitars, there are very few I like as well, Kenny's 4005 comes to mind. The TransGreen does look good though, in most of the pictures anyway. I've never seen any of these Trans colors in person, and we all know things usually look worse in pictures, but they sure do look like they're all nice! :D
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
