I need Help for a shipping to Italy

Post by MiroN »

This week I have buyed a 4001 on ebay.
I have payed all.

Now the seller tell me:
"Unfortunately I went to FedEx to mail your bass today and they said that the least expensive shipping amount would be $373.00 and United Parcel Services least expensive shipping to Italy would be $378.00 (minus the $75.50 you've already sent).
They explained the size of the box is why it cost so much.
Please let me know what service you want me to use.
Thank you"

This is not first bass I buyed in USA,
the shipping cost looks too expensive!

Help me!!!

Hi Mario, Oooh...that does sound steep! He probably packed the bass in an oversized box. Here are the size limitations for US Postal to Italy...

Max. length 60", max. length plus girth combined 108"

Shipping US Posal Express Mail International within the above dimentions should cost $150.00 or less, depending on the weight.

Ask the seller the weight and dimentions of the box...then get back to me. I'll help if I can.

Ciao! Tony

Right!

The seller:
"They (the Post Office) are wrong and you are right. I really think the lady didn't know what she was doing.
I can only go by what they told me at the post office and that's what the lady said.
I thought Federal Express and United Parcel Service was too high also. I have sent guitars and basses to Europe and I've never paid more than $150.00.
I will try a different post office and let you know.
I'm sending pictures so you can see the package. I thought about re-packaging your bass so it would be cheaper but as you see, the other box would be too small and I don't want the bass to get damaged. Your package is on the right. I just put the basses there so you could see how it would have been packed if I used the smaller one.
The measurements are 51x21Wx8.5D. The weight is 17lbs.
Thanks for the communication and I'm sorry it's taking so long"

When I've shipped bass guitars from the USA to other countries, I've used USPS because they had the best rates by far.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

last mail of the seller:
"Sorry about the inconveniences. I made some adjustments to the box and the shipping and handling will cost 100.50
minus the $75.50 you already paid. The post office will now ship it when you are ready.
Again, I'm very sorry it's taking so long but I want to make sure that you get the bass safely. Let me know what you
want to do.
Thanks"

I think is a good price

That is a good price -- it usually costs me a little bit more than that (up to $150) to ship to Europe.
