Re: scam?
Sounds like it could be the setup to a scam at least. The typical way to do this is to send you a check for more than the amount of the goods you are selling, the extra being to pay the person who is doing the pickup/transport. They write a phony check, you put it in the bank and take out cash, give it to the person who picks the thing up, hopefully(for them) before you find out the check is bad...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: scam?
Exact same thing happened to me on Craigslist. This is a well known scam.
All I wanna do is rock!
Re: scam?
Agreed. It's a scam.

Re: scam?
First off, yes....it's a scam.
Secondly, listen to your gut feeling. If you were that suspicious that it was a scam that it needed a thread online to confirm, there is a good chance that you know your answer before posting. Trust yourself and intuition first!

Re: scam?
OK, not only is this a scam but it's one of those scary scams.
The next step to this scam usually involves writing the bank certified check for more and having you go to the bank to do some monkey business with it or having someone come pick it up for them since they're out of the country "on business".
Be very very aware of what kind of dirtbags are out there lurking on craigslist.
Heck, I'm even out there.
