Anyone near Wilmington, NC with a spare shipping box?

Post by jakeox »

I bought a bass from a seller in Wilmington, NC a few days ago, and he's having a hard time finding a shipping box. Is there anyone local with a spare box big enough to ship a bass + case? He wants to either charge me an additional $60 to have UPS build a box and pack it, or have me ship an empty box to him, which doesn't sound that cost effective, either.

Thanks, all.

If you can't find someone local, I would ask the seller to go to Guitar Center (or a local music store) and buy a box from them. GC sells them for $10.

Crisis averted -- he found a box. I did send him to local guitar stores, etc, but he didn't have much luck for a couple days. Thanks for chiming in, though.

I'm on the other side of the state, so I couldn't have helped either.

I was looking for a box once to ship a bass to my brother and none of the local stores had them. I thought it strange, but I guess most smaller shops don't have room to keep boxes for any length of time.

As an aside, Uline sells guitar boxes in sets of five. I think the price worked out to be around $5 a box or something and they are pretty nice.

Yep, I like these boxes. I have a stash of them in the closet for when I run out of used boxes to re-use. They're sturdy, and a good size.
