I need some opinions if you guys dont mind.
I do not know much about keyboards but the ones I tried yesterday were a lot of fun.
My Son has decided he wants to move forward with playing keyboards I want to get him a better one than he has now
below are the ones I have narrowed it down to.
I am leaning towards the Yamaha DGX230 but the Casio WK-200 looks like it has similar to more features but I think Yamaha is a better brand.
The cost difference doesn’t really matter a whole lot its not "that" much of a difference. I just want him to have tool that wont be useless in 2 years.
let me know what you think

I have a keyboardist friend who has begun to revamp his rig towards a "laptop-based" system. All of his sounds will be accessed from off of a laptop via a keyboard "controller" (I don't exactly know whether that's a USB or some kind of MIDI interface...). To me, this all sounds good "on paper"... but I'm going to withhold judgment on how well it works in a live situation until I've seen him actually get through a gig without any major hurdles.
This may be something worth exploring for you and your son as well! I imagine that a well-thought out system of this type would be very easily expandable/moddable (tone-wise)... and at the very least slightly "obsolescence resistant"!

Christopher, so you get opinions from more than just the bassists here, I'm going to more the to Forum 51-The Search For Tone. I'll also leave the Shadow Topic here for a while.
Edit, I don't know why, but the forum software is not allowing the move.
Maybe later!

JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS!

I am sure the keyboard controller is the way of the future Alvaro but 2 things are needed to be accomplished with my Son before he moves on to that sophistication. First and foremost he needs to learn to play Piano before accessing digital sounds off the net....second The reason I al granting his upgrade to a better keyboard wish is to get him off the computer and spent more time doing real things that will get him to interact socially some more. I couldnt see any better thing for him than this to get him off the net. Since he has the interest and more so the talent....I will make his wish happen.
