Like.....I know going Disco was good for their career....but it's a shame that "Stayin Alive" is the first thing that comes to most people's minds when the Bee Gees are brought up in conversation.

interesting when the disco career was made he picked a mid '70's white 4001 with black trim to replace the 1999 ! saw them in moncton in '75. yes....i went to a bee gees concert...but it was only to see the rick...yeah...that's it ! when our audience applauded after one of their songs, barry said" don't clap, just throw money" ! we proceeded to pelt them with quarters like a german machine gun nest with an mg-42 ! i mean, they were getting hurt ! barry then screamed" stop it or we'll cancel the show "! we halted our barrage, promptly. i'll bet that rick has some tell tale coin dents in the finish. another history lesson.

I've always dug their pre-SNF hits. The past few years I've been digging into the rest of their catalog, including Australian releases and man, there are lots of gems in that mine. They've become one of my most listened to groups.

I always enjoyed the EARLY recordings....Disco & I never hit it off, even though there was some great bass lines in those songs.

"i wish i had my old RM1999 back" is the look on mauice's face as he ponders the coin dents ! i don't remember the 4001 being a deluxe early '70's, i thought it was the mid '70's style...but hey, haven't seen it or a pic since 1975 so, not bad . didn't get my first 4001 til '77, so wasn't into the particulars yet. that finger rest look a little too close to the strings from the norm to you guys ?

That's one of the better vid's showing the bass, and thanks for that middle photo. I haven't seen that one before and it does show it really well.

Tony C was very fond of the RM1999 at SERF, and I still love looking at that grin of his in the pix!

Few realize that the Bee Gees (like Olivia Newton-John) emigrated to Australia with their parents when they were youngsters. The Bee Gees were apparently born on the Isle of Man off of the British coast. Olivia was born in England as well.

Okay, I've just got to include an older pic of Olivia now - sort of on topic...
