I imagine that if one can afford the car's price tag, one can also find a way to legally import the car. :D

Lame.

I'd rather have a "real" Rickenbacker car. :)

serious question: is the "Rickenbacker car" a joke? To me it seems kind of unlikely that somone wanting to buy such a car has an affection for Rickenbacker guitars or guitars in general.

No joke.

But it helps to get inside the Japanese fan's mind and the general Japanese mindset toward luxury goods. Excess is common, and what we would consider oddball marketing liaisons, are more acceptable in Japan. As anywhere else in the world, licensing "partnerships" can result in items of dubious taste.

Unfortunately, the Rickenbacker automobile of the 1920s was not one of the decade's most graceful designs, either.

There was definitely enough enthusiasm for the guitar brand on the part of the car manufacturer to come up with the idea of building the car and follow it through to production! :D

I fail to see the connection outside of some small ornamentation. They don't say "Rickenbacker" to me at all.

I thought of the exact same Twilight Zone clip, Joey. :)

This one (the Himico/325) looks pretty nice in a Batman-y way:

Miata meets Morgan.

I personally don't comprehend this partnership.

(oh, and I'd take the Austin Healey)
