Katelyn Merrill & Friends - "All I Want Is Everything"

Post by sloop_john_b »

A continuation of this thread. I wanted to get some of these songs up in time for Christmas, so here are a few. Enjoy!

Winter Wonderland, remixed.

"Merry Christmas Darling". I aimed for maximum cheese on this Carpenters staple by using a Rhodes with a phaser, but I feel like it does fit the song nicely. I used my freshly straightened out v68 bass on this cut, goin' direct.

"Baby It's Cold Outside". Okay, sorry, no Ricks here. I have to think I get a reprieve for using a Rick on every recording I've done for the past 6 years. That's my rudimentary upright playing, and my Les Paul through a Blues Deluxe.

Finally, "Smile". Not a Christmas song, but a favorite of Katelyn's. Written by Charlie Chaplin! She was aiming for the Judy Garland version here. I used my Rickenbacker 5500 Upright Piano on this one.

Oh this is fantastic. Thanks John. I'll listen to these in the morning when I won't be disturbing the household as I play these songs at a reasonably high volume.

Don't know whether you do requests but I'd love to hear Katelyn sing Patsy Cline's "Crazy". 8)

Thanks for sharing. :D :D :D

Furthermore, like Aitch, I'd enjoy Katelyn's rendition of Crazy.

Wow! I loved all of these and so did my 2 year old grandson Everett who stayed over last night. He is a great judge of music. Case in point: He loves the Beatles and sings She Loves You with some gusto at every reasonable opportunity making all those around him smile from ear to ear. He heartily endorses your music, proven by the fact that he hummed along in certain parts.

Your version of "Smile" with your Rickenbacker 5500 Upright Piano  brought a tear to my eye for sentimental reasons. Thank you John and Katelyn. You have made my day.

Thanks fellas! Katelyn is all about doing "Crazy", next time we can get into the studio together. I'll see if I can get her to mention some of you guys by name.

Here's the latest, and along the same lines as Smile, it's a personal one for her (she's a Maine transplant trying to survive in the jungle known as NYC). "New York State Of Mind".
