The amp I've got, in fact the only one I ever had, is a Laney RBW300.

I bought it years ago when I was first playing bass and knew little about things, but it's always done well for me, I know it well, and it sounds better than ever now I have a Ric.

However, last night we played a gig supporting Fruit Bats who are touring at the moment, and while I brought my amp with me, when I got there I saw the bassist for the headliners had an Ampeg SVT there.

There was so much kit on the stage (taking up much-needed space), I knew it would be easier for the sound guy, and most of all, I really wanted to try my 4003 through it for the gig.

So I asked and they very kindly let me.

And wow, it sounded love-er-ly. Really nice.

It's certainly got me thinking, maybe I'm due for a new amp.

pre-'79 ampeg svt ! the earlier, the better ! although, i haven't heard a rick thru an svt with 6146 tubes, it would be interesting.

I enjoy my Ricks through my Ampeg B100R, but recently I bought a Fender Bassman TV Ten combo, and my 4001C64 sounds GREAT through it.

I have an Ampeg V4B-AV that I play through with the 610 cab. The 4001C64 sounds phenomenal through it. With the pickups split even, and depending what I am in the mood for, I can adjust the frequency dial on the amp to a nice warm deep tone to the an extreme bright piano tone. Of course, adjusting the pots on the Ric or the amp just gives me even more tone either way.
I'd rather have information and not need it, then need information and not have it.

Just for aroung the house I've got an Orange 30W combo that sounds pretty good. Would love to have one of their tube heads.
