Yup, it's a felony........trip to the big house......

The police will certainly get involved when it's an apparent felony.

I'm sure the guy will come through soon, some people just have the hardest time performing simple tasks.

Only if it amounts to higher than something like $100,000 I think.

You would be surprised. I had a phoney yellow pages company try to fool me into paying 300 bucks for an ad in a "nationwide yellow pages." They claimed that I had already agreed and were harassing me. I called the FBI immediately and talked to a guy there, gave him all the names, numbers etc that I had. He was happy to help. When the company called me again the next day, I gave them the agent's extension and said the FBI was expecting their call.

I had an issue with a custom musical instrument builder, and when I spoke with a FBI agent she said the fraud would have to amount to the number I mentioned above.

Many thanks to all for their support. After some very carefully worded messages and a clear legal rundown on exactly how serious a crime mail fraud is, and a reference to my best friend the FBI agent (true) the guitar (or something) seems to have shipped. I will let you know how it works out when I have the guitar in hand. I intend to open the box, camera in hand, in front of the UPS delivery person.

P.S. I knew about the large amount involved before the FBI cared, but chose to keep that detail to myself.

I just saw this thread. I am here in St. Louis and would be happy to help. Is there anything I can do?

Dr. Bob, I would really be very reluctant to get anyone in the middle of such a situation unless absolutely necessary. You never know what people are all about- if I sent someone to get the guitar and there was an altercation, that would surely NOT be worth it.

It looks as if I am going to get the guitar. I'd be very surprised if he would forestall the inevitable by shipping me a box full of rocks or a First Act solidbody. We shall see.

Thank very much for your support, all.
