New Yellow Submarine Movie in the works
Re: New Yellow Submarine Movie in the works
If you're into Beatles and want to see something very funny by Zemeckis check "I wanna hold your hand", directed by him back in 1978

Ah...I see now about the cover band. I had seen that report too regarding the original recordings.route66guitars wrote:Disney announced the cast yesterday, and that they've already licensed the original recordings for the film. The cover band was hired to do the band performance motion capture. It was stated specifically that they were not hired to supply music for the film. I'll hold judgement on the film until it's released. My point is that it's not something actual fans would have ever requested. The things I listed are requested all the time.
Let It Be, the film, was originally scheduled to have a limited release to theaters and then be released on DVD at the same time that Let It Be… Naked shipped. I know all of this because I was involved with the auction of George's Rosewood Telecaster, and we were working to tie it in with the film's re-release.
According to Tony Bramwell, who directed many of them, Apple Records owns the rights to all of the promotional videos. There is no legal reason they can't be released.
I recall that Let It Be was going to be released and that there was going to be a limited theater run just as there had been with A Hard Day's Night.
To see the original promo clips in a Past Masters-ish style compilation with restored/cleaned up video would be great. There is certainly quite a lot that Apple could offer us regarding primary-source material with the real deal Beatles.

I saw on VH1 Classic a little "Get Pumped for Beatles Rock Band" special that was called "Beatles' Video Collection". It featured footage from the Ed Sullivan Show, Around The Beatles, the "You're Gonna Lose That Girl", "I am the Walrus" and "One After 909" from "Help!", MMT and Let It Be, respectively, as well as the promo film for "Revolution". All of the footage looked amazing, and if Capitol would release all of the promo films like that, I'd be a happy boy.
In other words, I'm for the idea of a DVD with all the promo films with the 2009 remastered audio.

I'm sure I'll see it, but I'm not so sure I'll like it. I mean, shouldn't acid come back into vogue first, or something?
