10 cc band used to use an ebow. it's a magnetic field shaped like a strange mini stapler you hold in your picking hand that causes the string to vibrate continuously simulating the bowing violin effect. there are some versions that were permanently mounted to the guitar so you were free to play and not think about it. it takes practice to use.

Thanks Ron,

Sounds REALLY COOL!

I've gotta try some new stuff. Never even used a pedal of any kind!

Particularly on bass, as it is designed for the spacing of a six-string guitar.
Can we have everything louder than everything else?

Never seen an Ebow before, and what's the deal with the RAMPS?

What do they do actually?
Um, Tony......those are the Bartolini pickups that helps Michael produce the sound from his bass!

Unless you are refering to the tilt ramp under the Markbass amp? If so, that is pretty obvious what they do.

LOL, no Jeff...this might explain it, although I'm still not sure. I THOUGHT I saw a "ramp" on Michael's bass...I've gotta put those glasses on again. I've heard mention of them recently, but never "Googled" it...until now....

I have played Gary's bass! :D

Michael's Hyperbass has an extended fingerboard, not a ramp, although I can see how it might look like a ramp..
