Not a horrible price when you consider c64 is around 3K.

Would like to figure out a way to snag one of these.

Bought one few weeks ago for 2.8k,
Quite pricey I'd to say, but I was after a FG and could not resist when I saw it advertised.
Seller was aiming for 3.3k but I managed to get a "reasonable" price. furthermore they are hard to find in the EU.

One of those RM1999's has a real nice dark red FG that is real close to some of the originals I've seen. Others seem to have a lighter shade a little like the 4003. I guess it really depends on who does the painting. On these particular basses the darker they are, the closer they are to the old ones.

Were these ever made in MG in the 60's? I don't recall ever seeing any photos of any.

Gorgeous RM 1999's. Too bad RIC is taunting us with them instead of selling them to us! Maybe soon?!

I think they were only available in FG. At least the '64's were anyway.

I see they have the more rounded corners on the HS surround. I don't think the originals were like that. I wonder why that changed in the early 90's. :? :?:

I recently purchased a FG 1999 4001V63 for $1800 from a well known musical instrument store. They marked it as a 4003S, but it had the wrong pick ups (hi gains). I'm told I got a good deal on this bass. I sent the serial number to Rickenbacker and they verified that I did purchase a 4001V63.

Congrats and welcome, Dan. If it has a square neck heel and walnut headstock wings, then it's a V63 and not a 4003S. Also...there were no 4003S basses made in 1999. The latest 4003S I've seen was a 1996 or 1997.

Do you have any pics?

Thanx for the welcome. I'd love to post them but I'm getting a message that says the file is too big, 500 KiB max. Any tips on how to post photos? I got the same message when I was setting up my profile.
