480 pick guard

Are any of the modern bass pick guards the same as the 480 pick guards??

As a 480 owner, I'm pretty positive they aren't. And my understanding is even from 480-to-480 or year-to-year,they can be slightly different from each other, but others here can better confirm or refute that.

If you have the original and are looking for a different color or something, it's best to trace it. If it was a 480 that was chopped or missing the pickguard, I would suggest you try to obtain a tracing then place it over your guitar and try to line up what you can. You can get a 480 pickguard made by Pickguardian.

They look very close to me. The screw holes differ though. Check out this current thread in the bass section:

I sent my 480 to Pickguardian and I think he used it for a template. Not sure of the year of mine and it is not near me to check.

They do look similar but you can see areas that just don't match - location of the neck pick up, the upper portions are slightly different in their curves, the control area is wider on the 480, including the connecting area between the pick up and control area, etc.
