Did anybody catch the show "7th Inning Stretch" on ESPN last week? Well, the show features Pat DiNizo (a huge baseball fan by all accounts) attempting to play a game with a minor league ball club. In the show, he's playing catch with Bruce Springsteen, talking baseball with Joan Jett and other assorted baseball types while visiting major (and minor) league parks along the way. I got excited over the mention of Long Beach Island, New Jersey! Anyway, it was great to see Pat on his "quest", and the show has some great Smithereens music throughout. Highly recommended viewing.

Ron, I caught that. Very cool show. I was almost in bed and my brother called. He said "turn on the TV, that guy you had over at the house is on!" I hosted one Pat's Livingroom Tour shows at my house in 2000. I had been a huge Smithereens fan since the mid '80s. He didn't disappoint.

Guitar schlepping AND a thanks in the liner notes of "Meet the Smithereens"? I'd take that any day!
