No problem, I've been meaning to take some shots of these basses for a long time and now I have a reason. :)

The main difference is a flatted area at the body top where your forearm lays on the bass. Like a Jazz has. Most comfortable. If they did that with the new Cii, the walnut in the sandwich would show through.

I'd like to see them bring back the Ci. I'd also like to see them bring out the 4006! Ugh. Quit daydreaming Josh!!

I would love to see a side pic of that contour , after reading this I thought I would check out my cii as it is very comfy there too , maybe not as contoured but it does indeed thin out there a wee bit .

here you see the top grain as it contours down to the side^

Okay, I got out the camera... With the dark walnut, it was hard to get detail to show. These were the better of what I took.

Paul, there was a lot more contouring on the back top side than I remembered. A VERY comfortable bass to play.

Well better late than never, as I've been away from the forum for well over a year. Here are some photos of my March '93 4004c.

This bass is such a pleasure to play, and has a quality construction second to none. And just think I nearly sold this bass along with my June '93 4004 laredo, over a year ago.

I know pickup placement has been discussed, but it seems really pronounced on the Cheyenne, with one model having an almost PBass position for the bridge pickup (neck pickup right at the neck) and the other having the bridge pickup closer to the bridge and the neck pickup moved further from the neck.

Does anyone have experience with the two?

Yep, I preferred the sound of the the pickups further towards the bridge.
