I wouldn't call it a Ricky Ripoff... lets just say "heavily influenced".
I played a Schecter Stargazer-12 at my local music store and was impressed! I've been looking online for the width-at-nut dimension, but it is definitely wider than a 620 (1.63") and probably similar to the 660 (1.75")..... or maybe even wider? If anyone can get the exact dimension I'd appreciate it.
To be honest, I wish Schecter DID rip off (or contract with) RIC a little more.... if this guitar had the ingenious RIC style 12-string tuner setup, I would buy one in a heartbeat.

Re: Schecter Stargazer
Ugliest pastiche of styling cues and irrational "design" nonsense I've seen yet on a recent product from a "major" manufacturer. That tailpiece is simply grotesque.
At least, as you say, they play well.

I agree about the tailpiece, but.... I dunno... it dont look too bad to me. Not great.... but not horrible.
And yea, it did feel real nice. I didn't plug it in (I was in a rush). I'll go back and give it a try through a Fender Princeton.I'd rather have one of these.

Re: Schecter Stargazer
Today I did the exact same thing.... and searching the net for the width at nut I also came up empty. I'm still not crazy about the looks of the guitar, but man-0-man... it plays like a dream. Best playing electric 12-string I've ever picked up. I also suspect that the width at nut is 1.75.I played a Schecter Stargazer-12 at my local music store and was impressed! As for the Charvel Surfcaster-12 I did find this:
http://www.jacksonguitars.com/support/c ... atalog.pdf
Which has the nut width a 1 11/16 (1.688).... which puts it exactly half way between the widths of a 620-12 and a 660-12. Did I mention that my birthday is a mere 10 months away?
Re: Schecter Stargazer
Mine's only 9 months away.

Don't sugar-coat it. How do you REALLY feel?jingle_jangle wrote:Ugliest pastiche of styling cues and irrational "design" nonsense I've seen yet on a recent product from a "major" manufacturer. That tailpiece is simply grotesque.
I think it looks fine.
De gustibus non est disputandum.
