How do you do that trick where the thing you want to show off is in color and the background is black and white? I need to learn that!

Not 100% sure this is correct because I've only done it a few times but what I generally do is make a copy layer and put it above the background/locked layer, then covert the copy layer to grayscale, then erase over the object until only the background/locked layer (still color) shows through.

That's pretty much what I did, but the other way around. I used a fuzzy eraser around the edges of the bass and carefully traced around.

Nice pic, Morrow; that turned out quite well! Thanks for documenting a brand new 4003's first time out. Do you have the photo of mine 'necking' with yours?

This must be the one . Most of the pictures had some blur ...but I try to avoid using flash . It's pretty dim in the bar .

I brought my 4001 to compare with Colin's new one and was quite surprised at how similar the feel was between the two . Mine has an old set of TI flats and Colin's still got the factory strings but the weight and overall feel of the necks was quite close . The horns on the body seem a touch thinner on the new ones , and it does have the full width inlays and the walnut headstock wings . A very beautiful instrument . Mine is thirty years old and shows some wear and tear but is in pretty good shape for it's age . The binding has turned yellow and the finish has that warm look they get over time . I love the thing ... it's still a joy to play .

( It might have had some influence on Colin's decision to buy a new one .)

:) It was the price & availability of used instruments that made that decision for me.

Your FG had a lot of influence on my choice of colour, though; I was originally leaning towards JG. I love the photo, btw! You should stick that up on the narcissistbook page too.
