Our "new" (to us) house is a log home on just shy of 5.25 acres. The previous owners weren't big believers in proper repairs or maintenance so I've been busy getting things safe, sensible and "correct". The big pending project is the installation of hardwood floors throughout the house.....I've never done hardwood floor installation before so it should be a fun endeavor. There is currently a 24x40 pole barn that isn't located on a proper part of the property for my wife's horse shenanigans so it will become my car/tractor sanctuary. All it needs is a concrete floor and revamp of the wiring mess.......structure wise it is perfect and high enough for a suitable lift. A 4 stall horse barn is on the list for Spring projects......whether I build it or a crew of Amish wizards is dependent on estimates we get from the bearded craftsmen. The land is in great shape but needs some leveling and clearing to get ready for pasture fencing. Some log repair/replacement and getting rid of the peanut butter-esque stain is slated for early on as well. Lots to do! It doesn't appear that I'll have much time to lounge on the couch and watch the History Channel anymore (thank goodness for sweet, sweet TiVo).
My LK has a nice place of honor in our loft area (overlooks the living room) but I'll refrain from pics until the heinous carpet is in the dump and the new floors are in.
Sounds like a lot of work ahead but worth it for your own little corner of heaven.
