Anybody Got A 2010 4003 Yet?
Like the title, has anyone got a 2010 4003 yet?
I've seen a couple for sale already!
Just wondering if things have changed again, as the Jan '09 was the return (I have read) of the chunkier neck.
Any thoughts?

Well, April 09 was the introduction of the 2 piece slim neck. Haven't heard anything about 2010...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

I have one, manufactured Jan 2010. I'm not familiar enough with these beasts yet to make qualitative statements about the neck, but I could provide measurements if you like.

Does your neck have two pieces of maple? Also here is how we measure:colin wrote:I have one, manufactured Jan 2010. I'm not familiar enough with these beasts yet to make qualitative statements about the neck, but I could provide measurements if you like.

We also need to point out that plenty of Rics get sold as "Year X" by dealers that can be "Year X-1" in truth. Check the serial: if it starts with 09 you've got a 2009; if it starts with 10 (I assume) you've got a 2010.
I doubt RIC would drop the 2-piece neck, it seemed like a hit. But we'll see! The chunky neck trend that my Jan. 2009 benefited from sure didn't last. I think I know why, though.

Ok I have some numbers here:
1st: 11.6 mm
3rd: 11.9 mm
12th 13.4 mm
(of course, I'm not sure how accurate this plastic measuring tape is)
The jack plate has '10' at the top and a five digit number at the bottom.

The bass was made in 2010. What is the first two digits of the 5 number sequence? This tells you what week the bass was made.colin wrote:The jack plate has '10' at the top and a five digit number at the bottom.

Oh and it does appear to have a two-piece neck.

Are these the same measurements as a 2009 two-piece?colin wrote:Ok I have some numbers here:
