Butcher Block Tele

At practice yesterday, Bill, the other guitarist for Silk & Steel, brought his Telecaster that he'd just gotten back from the shop. He had a new body made for it. It's a butcher block design - the squares are alternating blocks of Walnut and Mahogany, and it's finished with tung oil. It's much more striling is person than the photos could reveal, very sharp!

He also had some custom wiring done. There are three small toggles on the horn (hard to see in the photo). One is for three coil taps in the bridge pickup, the second is for two coil taps in the neck pickup, and the third switches the pickups out of phase.

so, would it be high output/med/low for hot/modern/vintage on the bridge and modern/vintage on the neck pus for the taps?
and is the pickup selector 3, 4 or 5 way?

Next they'll have the official "Butcher block" CS Telecaster, that comes with an inlayed Cleaver in the case and wrapped in butcher paper.

I love it--my uncle does butcher blocks like this, maybe I could have him do a P Bass body...

How does it sound? My guess is that it must be pretty good on the ears. Yeah?

Maybe they could build in one of those little hinged cheese slicers on the back - the kind that look like a coping saw and use a high E string for a blade. When playing, it could double as a sympathetic string for a bit more jangle. I'll shut up now and go away.
